BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) — A Vermont driver on Monday pleaded not guilty to a charge in the June crash that killed actor Treat Williams. Ryan Koss, 35, could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison if he's convicted of gross negligent operation with death resulting. An investigation of the June 12 crash in Dorset concluded a vehicle pulled in front of Williams, who was riding a motorcycle and was unable to avoid a collision, Vermont State Police said. Koss was turning left into a parking lot in an Honda SUV when he collided with Williams’ oncoming motorcycle, police said. He issued a statement in August saying he was devastated by Williams’ death and offered his “sincerest condolences” to Williams' family, but he denied wrongdoing and said charges weren't warranted.

Koss was driving a Honda Element SUV that turned into the path of Williams’ motorcycle on Vermont Route 30 in Dorset, police said. Actor Ezra Miller pleaded guilty Friday to a charge stemming from a break-in and theft of alcohol at a neighbor’s home in Vermont, one of a string of arrests and reports of erratic behavior last year that stretched from Hawaii to New England. During the nearly 30-minute hearing in Bennington, Miller, 30, answered the judge’s questions but declined to make a statement. Miller pleaded not guilty in October to stealing liquor from a neighbor’s home in Vermont. The homeowner said he had been friends with Miller for about 18 years and bought the home a year and half ago in Stamford, where Miller also had a home, according to the police affidavit. Miller was arrested twice last year in Hawaii, including for disorderly conduct and harassment at a karaoke bar.
Actor Ezra Miller is expected to plea guilty to a lesser charge of trespassing in Vermont after being accused of stealing several bottles of alcohol from someone's home. They were later charged with unlawful trespassing, two charges for burglary into an unoccupied dwelling and petit larceny. A clerk for Vermont Superior Court confirmed to NBC News Wednesday that the parties have come to an agreement to drop the burglary and larceny charges. Miller is expected to enter his guilty plea at a hearing Friday in Bennington County Superior Criminal Court. In another case from Hawaii, Miller allegedly threw a chair at a 26-year-old woman during a private get-together in Pāhoa.

Software engineer Brian Feldman created an archive of topics that trended on Twitter this year. The project revealed themes of global political unrest alongside memes and pop culture trends. The list of 457 different trending topics each highlighted a moment that Twitter showed Feldman users commenting en masse about a singular topic. From "Adidas" to "Ted Lasso," the trending topics revealed pop culture fads and memes that moved Twitter users to conversation — and often argument — about their preferences and opinions. Internationally, trends like "Cold War," "Russian Warship," and "Taiwan" also demonstrated how political unrest is being felt around the globe.

Science Fiction & Fantasy: Folk Horror’s Subtle Chills

While I refuse to call it Spooky Season, this time of year does have me yearning for stories about witches and mountains, full moons, haunted houses and headless horsemen. Unlike tales of bodysnatching aliens or hellraising demons, the charm of folk horror is that it sidles up to the almost believable. Our suspension of disbelief is extended further than usual with historic settings, real locations and the universal terror of isolation and uncontrolled nature. Well-written folk horror bridges the gap between myth and modernity with eerie familiarity: It could, or did, happen here. One of the basic tenets of living in a folk-horror world is to never visit a remote community—a remote Scandinavian village or an island off the coast of Britain—where the locals worship old gods and welcome visitors with horrific rites.
Actor Ezra Miller has pleaded not guilty to accusations that they burglarized a Vermont home. Miller appeared in court on Monday morning to face a burglary charge and a petit larceny charge. The actor pleaded not guilty to felony burglary and petit larceny, two charges that carry a sentence of up to 26 years in prison if they are convicted, per the media outlet. They were accused in June of grooming a teen, 18-year-old Tokata Iron Eyes. Both Miller and Tokata Iron Eyes have denied the allegations.
“The Flash” star Ezra Miller pleaded not guilty to burglary charges in a Vermont court Monday morning. Miller, who’s charged with burglary into an occupied home and petit larceny, faces up to 26 years in prison if convicted of both charges. The petit larceny charge states that the stolen items were less than $900 in total value. The felony burglary charge has a maximum of 25 years in prison and a $1,000 maximum fine. The larceny charge is a maximum of one year and a similar $1,000 fine.
CNN —“The Flash” actor Ezra Miller has pleaded not guilty on Monday to burglary charges in relation to an alleged Vermont home invasion in which they are accused of stealing alcohol, according to Bennington Criminal Court Operations Manager Wendy Dickie. Miller, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, appeared virtually in the hearing with their attorney, Lisa Shelkrot. They face one felony charge of burglary into an occupied dwelling and one misdemeanor charge of petty larceny, Dickie said. Monday’s arraignment comes after Miller announced they were seeking mental health treatment in August. “Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller said in a statement at the time.
